Akash Joshi
Akash (29) is a rich, worldly "mama's boy." He is used to getting what he wants in life, but because he is attractive and charismatic, Akash still always manages to come off as charming.
On paper, and even in personal interactions, Akash is perfect husband material, and most Indian women would love to marry him. But, little do they know that his priority is to make his parents happy, even at the cost of his own happiness. And what nobody knows is that Akash's parents are looking for a large dowry as a return on the investment they made in Akash's education.
Akash sees nothing wrong with his parents' scheme, and he intends to go through with it for the sole purpose of earning their approval.
Akash’s best friend is Venu, and they are quite popular together in social settings. Even as adults, they are thick as thieves and have mutual respect and loyalty for one other.
Akash grew up in the same chawl as Venu before Akash's dad got a government job and moved their family to government quarters. There, Akash fell in love with books and began carrying one along wherever he went. Akash speaks with worldly wisdom as a result.
Akash is the eldest of three siblings. (He has two younger sisters.)
Akash always looks to his mother for her input on his choices, and she will often make decisions for him.
