Veena Bai (24) was a jeweler before an angry slum dweller threw acid in her face and changed her life forever. Now, Veena works as a timid, happy-go-lucky maid as she tries to save up enough money for law school. She intends to become a lawyer and bring justice to other female victims of abuse.

Even after her incident, Veena maintains a positive attitude. She longs for the day when she can either reveal her face to promote awareness about such violence or afford the surgeries needed to restore her appearance to reflect the person she sees herself as on the inside.

She is not typically comfortable in her own skin because of her appearance, but she will reveal her face to people who she trusts and cares about because she knows they will not judge her.
